By Marie Watson
With so many different obstacles in our way today it’s essential to do the things that are necessary to keep our bodies in top condition. Between diseases and pollution in our air and water, we must stay tuned into the needs of our bodies in order to assure a long and healthy life. Making the right choices in these areas will allow us to remain happy and productive many years past retirement.
1. Get plenty of sleep
Being well-rested is one of the most important elements in maintaining a healthy body. Sleep deprivation whether purposely or the result of insomnia can cause your body to become tired, fatigued, and run down. This lends its way to an invasion of many infections because of a compromised immune system. Sleep is the body’s best defence, so you need to make sure you obtain what your body needs. Each person requires on average between six and eight hours of sleep nightly, although some may function on as little as five hours while others need up to ten hours.
2. Exercise regularly
Besides having the ability to boost the metabolism, exercise also helps the body sleep most restfully. Whether you do a complete workout or just take a walk several times during the day, you will feel much better by participating in some kind of exercise. That doesn’t mean you have to do something boring—you can swim, bicycle, play tennis, ski, water ski, or do any other type of activity that you enjoy. The important thing is to make sure you do it regularly.
3. Eat healthy foods
In order to maintain a body that is healthy and active all of your life, you need to learn how to eat foods that are good for you. Certainly that high fat, high calorie burger from the local fast food place tastes good, but it is not good for you. You need to develop the habit of eating lean protein, steamed or raw vegetables, fresh fruits, and carbohydrates containing a low glycemic index such as whole grain cereals, brown rice, and wheat bread and pasta. That doesn’t mean you have to give up sweet desserts and snacks for good, but you need to learn to eat them in moderation.
4. Maintain a normal weight
Having excess weight puts a strain on both the heart and the back. In order to assure that you can stay active and do the things you enjoy, you need to make sure your weight is within normal range. If you are overweight but think you are still healthy, you need to review the things you are able to do compared to some of the things you used to be able to do. Certainly you are older which causes some difference, but your weight definitely has a detrimental effect on the level of activities in which you are able to participate.
5. Make sure you have an adequate supply of essential nutrients
No matter how many healthy foods we eat, it is likely we are not getting all of the nutrients we need. This is especially true of the Omega-3 Fatty Acids that help us maintain the health of our hearts. Although this nutrient is found in fish, few of us can eat enough fish to compensate, so we need to supplement this deficiency with fish oil supplements. The same holds true of many other nutrients such as Calcium, Iron, Folic Acid, and the B vitamins just to name a few.
A healthy lifestyle will help us keep our bodies healthy into our golden years, and following these tips will certainly help you in that process. You don’t need to give up your favourite foods to be healthy, but you do need to make sure you eat unhealthy foods in moderation. You also want to make sure to get enough sleep, exercise regularly, and supplement your diet with important vitamins and minerals.

Drug Detox Demand May Be Reduced By New Computer Program
By Rod MacTaggart
Most of the 500 Metro Detroit doctors who recently evaluated a new online prescription drug program say it improves patient safety and quality of care by reducing the number of pharmacy errors, patient allergies and harmful drug interactions that can occur as a result of hand-written prescriptions. This is good news for the thousands of victims of prescription drug problems who end up needing drug detox.
The majority of drug-related trips to emergency rooms and detox centers – not to mention sudden deaths and trips to the morgue – are caused by problems with prescription drugs. Hospitals, ERs and detox centers in recent years are seeing more dependencies, addictions, overdoses and life-threatening drug interactions as a result of prescription drugs than more traditional illicit street drugs like heroin, cocaine in its many forms, and perhaps methamphetamine.
Most drug detox facilities now provide specialized medical drug detox services for a host of different prescription drugs. And although detox centers help people with problems caused by legitimate prescriptions, many of the most commonly abused prescription drugs have found their way into the illicit street drug pipeline. And virtually all of the popular prescription drugs now found in schoolyards, night clubs and on the streets require drug detox to safely get off them.
The new prescription drug program, called ePrescription, is used by doctors right in their offices to access online information about a prescription drug, including generic alternatives, potentially harmful drug interactions, and potential allergic reactions. Patients already taking other prescription drugs often don’t remember what they’re taking or forget to tell the doctor about them – or the doctor doesn’t ask. But because the program lists all the patient’s medications, it helps avoid the serious side effects or even dependencies that lead to drug detox when the wrong drugs are combined. And because the doctor uses the computer to print out new prescriptions, it helps prevent patients from getting the wrong drug or wrong dosage just because a pharmacist couldn’t read the doctor’s handwriting.
In the two years that doctors have tested the program, 3.3 million prescriptions were written, and nearly a third of them – one million prescriptions – were identified as offering potentially harmful drug interactions, and another 100,000 prescriptions were spotted as being potentially allergic. In all, 423,000 prescriptions were corrected – changes that, if not corrected, might have caused injuries and even deaths. For drugs with a high potential for dependency such as narcotic painkillers and many antidepressants and antipsychotics, keeping track of the prescriptions with the computer surely helped prevent trips to drug detox.
The power of the new program to improve patient health and prevent prescription drug misadventure was lauded by most of the doctors testing it. They said it alerted them to potential problems they wouldn’t have noticed otherwise, and they liked how the program let them check other medicines patients were taking. Mixing prescriptions is always an area of risk that can precipitate dependency or addiction and lead to the need for drug detox or to complications and even death.
Detroit’s new online prescription drug computer program appears to be helping get that city’s prescription drug error and abuse situation under control, and should help save a lot of people from needing a drug detox program.

Running The Marathon? - Diet And Exercise Do's And Don't's.
By Katalyn Louis Parks
Dieting and exercise are exactly the same as giving up smoking or alcohol: you have to want to do it. Because if you don’t want it to happen, it won’t, and it’s as simple as that. The very thought that your mind could condition your life in this way gives you the opportunity to make anything happen. So, if you want something to happen, it will. But then, here’s the problem: I want to be thin and healthy, but I don’t want to stop eating or start moving! So I find the best way to get into shape, for lazy bastards like myself, is to gradually get there, step by step.
I find that by making a few small changes, this makes the change from lazy to active less noticeable. Instead of vowing to run a mile each day, just vow to get up earlier than usual and walk to work instead of driving or taking the bus, because let’s face it, this isn’t only an advantage to your waistline, but to the environment too. Another small change you can make is drinking more water, and I know you’re tired of hearing this, but it’s true. But for those of you who are a little more daring, go for fruit juices or even vegetable juices. As long as the drink doesn’t have caffeine or alcohol it’s fine -- because caffeine and alcohol dehydrate you and slow down your system, meaning anything that goes in your mouth isn’t processed properly. Another advantage to drinking more water is that a lot of people sometimes misinterpret thirst for hunger and eat more and more, when all they really need is a glass of water.
Portion sizes are very important, and unlucky for big eaters, a new craze that’s come about in the world of dieting is the portion diet. You can eat whatever you want, just less of it in a day. The idea behind this diet is that because your stomach is merely the size of your fist (smaller than you thought?) you should therefore only eat handfuls of food every time you eat. Having more than a handful of food is too much for your stomach and therefore it will take longer to digest. You don’t need to eat more than this in one meal time, so don’t overestimate your limit!
Another small change to your diet could be eating four meals rather than three (I like this one). Now that we’ve changed the portion size, you’re probably going to get very hungry between meals for at least the next two weeks after starting to diet, just as your body gets used to it. This means that eating more frequently will help the hunger pangs. Three hours after eating, your body goes into ‘starvation mode’. The food has been processed and emptied out of the stomach and into your intestines where it will be further processed for a good while yet, however while nothing’s in your stomach, it suddenly starts to sing. The growling of your stomach is a sign to eat, and I don’t think you should eat otherwise because this probably means you’re not hungry and therefore eating for comfort or boredom! Eating every three hours keeps your metabolism up and your tummy nice and satisfied, so you’ll feel less need for food and generally, more active.
And let’s not forget exercise! Remember, you only really need to get 30 minutes of exercise a day, so don’t kill yourself trying to run a marathon because you just don’t need to. Half an hour a day will keep your fitness at a healthy level, and once you’re used to this, you could even try and push the boat out a little. Exercise could be anything like climbing stairs, walking the dog, jogging, swimming, yoga, or even sex!
So, making these small changes to your life will vastly improve your fitness and not only will you look great, but you’ll feel great too. It’s such a cliché, but it’s also very true. Remember to speak to a doctor before making any changes to your lifestyle or diet, and remember to allow your body at least two weeks to adjust to each change made in your diet or exercise regime. Good luck!

Health Tips
By Mikhail Tuknov
1. No Shortcuts - you get a lot of advertisements and products today giving you some sort of advice on how to lose weight without any work. What you need to understand is that the mental aspect of exercise and workout is just as important as the physical. Working hard for a great body enables you to appreciate your health better. It also increases your self-esteem. More often than not, shortcuts offered today are either ineffective or dangerous.
2. Have fun - what turns off most people from working out can be found in the term: "work". The reason most people go for shortcuts is that they do not want to endure the mental torture of having to go through repetitive motions. Add a bit of fun to your workout routine by engaging in activities such as sports or even dancing. This will help you exercise more without actually realizing it.
3. Gather information - most people dive into the latest fitness fad without first gathering enough information. What you need to understand is not all types of exercise or diet regimes work for all people. You need to do your research in order to determine if what an "expert" suggests will work for you. Some people just jump into fitness crazes without knowing anything about what's being advertised. How many people can actually accurately define what a "calorie" is?
4. Eat right -there's just no escaping it. In order to get fit, you'll have to monitor your food intake. There's no use exercising if you don't manage to eat right. Here are a few tips:
A. Eat a balanced meal. The basic food pyramid still applies. Eating a balanced meal with the right amount of carbohydrates, veggies and protein will help you feel get the right nutrients while satisfying your hunger.
B. The reverse pyramid eating. That means you should eat a big breakfast and then eat a "just-right" lunch and then just have a bite for dinner. Eating a big breakfast will jump-start your metabolism, giving you a huge energy boost for your whole day and allow your body to burn off more calories on its own. Since breakfast sets the standard rate of your calorie burn for the whole day, eating a hearty breakfast will definitely help you get healthy faster.
C. Get rid of junk food. Did you know that it takes 24 hours' worth of vigorous dancing to get rid of all the calories and fat in a single cheeseburger? It's nice to indulge in fast food or junk food every once in a while, but you should never make it a staple.
D. Learn what to substitute. A lot of people go on a fad and try to eat what they think are "healthy foods". As it turns out, however, there are a number of supposedly "healthy" substitutes which may be more dangerous than the foods they are supposed to replace. When you look at the nutritional value of food, don't just look at the calories and fat.
Calories are just units of energy and sometimes, higher calorie ratings can actually be good, especially if you are working out. Fat isn't also always bad. However, you should take a look at the ingredients. Look at the sodium content. Look at the different chemicals used to make that "healthy" option.
E. Small meals. Did you know that people in the Philippines eat 5 times a day or more? However, the obesity rate in the country isn't as high as in the U.S. The key to this is small portions. Even if they do eat frequently, the meal size is just enough to keep their metabolism up and their digestion going. If you eat small portions frequently, you'll be able to process the food more easily and avoid fat accumulation.
F. Communicate with your tummy. No, this does not mean pulling up your shirt and talking to your navel. You need to sense when your tummy is hungry and when it is full. Usually, you are actually full even before you feel stuffed. The key is knowing when you've had enough. Sometimes, it's just your taste buds and mind that are looking for more food. A great idea is to sit back or excuse yourself from the table and wait for 15 minutes before you reach for seconds. If you still feel hungry, then go for seconds, but the chances are, you'll feel satisfied enough once your mind's distracted.
G. Keep hydrated. Water can help you feel fuller. Before going to a party or eating dinner, try and drink at least one full glass of water. This will help keep you from gorging. Water also helps you flush away any unwanted toxins and keep you healthy. Drink lots of water; doing this can actually be very good for you.

11 Health Tips
By Mikhail Tuknov
1. Relish your food. Time is a luxury many people don't have today. As a result, you have people rushing about their dinners, eating in front of the television, grabbing a few pieces of toast for breakfast and the like. This just won't do. By taking some time and chewing your food properly, you will be able to make sure that your digestion works efficiently.
2. Walk more often. Whenever you walk, you are actually exercising. When you have enough time, you might want to walk instead of ride. Why, with the ever-increasing costs of gasoline today, this activity might help you save some cash as well as give you the exercise you need. It is said that an average of 10,000 steps daily should help keep you fit.
3. Relax. Stress plays a key role in the degeneration of cells. If you want to keep looking younger, you should smile more. Learn to enjoy life. When you learn how to manage your life better and avoid stress, you will find that you have better health. Now that's something everyone wants.
4. No such thing as a six-second exercise. A lot of people are spending hundreds of dollars on machines that claim to exercise a person without doing any work. However, you should realize that there's more to exercise than muscle training. Using a machine to tone your abs won't work if you keep accumulating fat. You need to have cardiovascular training in order to truly use energy efficiently. You need to perform some sort of vigorous exercise which leaves your heart pounding and you nearly out of breath for more than 15 minutes at a time.
5. Be informed. Most people suffer from malnutrition simply because they turn to all the wrong solutions for their health problems. Before following a diet regime or buying a new gadget, you should really read up more on what is good for you. This includes food substitutions and get-thin-quick schemes.
6. Eat fresh and organic. Whether it comes to meat or veggies, you need to stop going for what's quick and start eating what's right. Fresh produce not only produces healthier meals, it also tastes the best. Don't you think that eating food full of chemicals with names you can't even pronounce can be just a wee bit dodgy?
7. Be active. Life is too short to waste sitting in front of the television. Be more active. Engage in some sort of activity where you actually have to move. Whether you are taking up rock climbing, martial arts, dancing or even if you just go out and buy an eye toy or a Wii, you should at least try and utilize all those muscles. If you are a retiree, you should try and take up tai-chi or some other activity which requires you to move all your muscles.
8. Set a goal. Whether you are attempting to lose, maintain or gain weight (yes, sometimes, it's better to gain weight than lose weight., you need to set a goal for yourself. Goal-setting will enable you to keep your motivation up, as it will show you what sort of progress you are actually making. Motivation is very important in keeping fit. Are you familiar with the phrase "let yourself go"? Well, that's what really happens. When you let go of your motivation, you let go of your willingness to be fit.
9. Cut back on vices. Did you know that 30 minutes after you quit smoking, your heart rate improves, your blood pleasure lowers and your breathing becomes easier? Smoking will kill you. If you want to improve your health just quit smoking. A glass or two of wine after a meal will definitely help you improve your heart rate. More than that, however, will just be equal to consuming empty calories.
10. Get help. You need some sort of support system in order to help you achieve your goal and keep on track. You might want to turn to a personal trainer, but that would require you to spend some cash. You should, instead, try to go to a friend or your family. Doing this will enable you to have a more personal contact with your support system and help you keep motivated.
11. Start today. It's all well and good to plan, but if you want to get healthy you had better begin immediately. Start being active today. Take action right now. Whether you drop that potato chip or go out running it does not matter; just do it right now. Procrastination only begets more procrastination and you never know when it might be too late.
These tips should help you make sure that you lead a healthy lifestyle. A healthy lifestyle will definitely help you lead a happy life. It's a simple equation that doesn't require a rocket scientist to figure out.

Is It Possible For One To Be Fat But Fit?
By Antony Lee
Is it possible for a person to be fat but fit at the same time? Some people believe that no matter how hard you are doing the exercises every day, it will render you problem if you eat too much. This is because fat is basically no goof for our heart.
We always want to know if a overweight person can still be healthy if they exercise everyday. In fact, doing exercises for 15 minutes a day can make a fat person feel different. The blood pressure of the person will go down and the cholesterol levels will also drop. To this end there are people who even believe that you can be fat as long as you do not feel anything wrong. They tend to believe that if you have enough exercises, you will be healthy and it will be totally alright if you do not feel anything wrong when you are climbing up the stairs. As a matter of fact a lot of overweight people will have unpleasant feelings when they are climbing up the stairs. They will usually feel that their hearts are of extra burden when they are climbing up the stairs.
Yet some experts do not agree with the above. According to some researches, no matter how much exercising a fat person performs, the fact that he or she overweight will render risk to the health conditions. Of course the person will be healthier if they work out regularly. However, it will not lower the risk of heart attack and diabetes. This fact is totally opposite to the belief of many people. As a result, the experts will suggest overweight people should try to lose weight no matter they do exercises or not. Overweight is always a problem and a risk to the health of a person.
According to the researches mentioned, it is also find that people who do not work out regularly are also at risk. No matter a person is overweight of not, having little or no exercises will render problems to the health. In fact, we need to work out regularly so that our bodies can function properly.
To this end, you will know that you still need to work out even if you can keep a healthy weight. And this may probably explain why dieting alone is not a good way of losing weight. In order to lose weight healthily, once has to be careful about what he or she eats. And at the same time he / she should also try to do some exercises everyday.

Metabolism Jump Start Tips - 10 Ways to Increase Your Metabolism Naturally and Easily
By Chruis Leung
People who want to lose weight sometimes overlook the value of metabolism boosters. Instead of using over the counter supplements, there are many ways to increase metabolism naturally. Metabolism is the rate by which the body produces and consumes energy and calories, so you can live and do the things you want to do. By speeding up metabolism, you boost the rate at which your body burns calories.
Here are ten ways to increase metabolism naturally and easily:
1. Exercise more and build more lean muscle mass. This one is fairly simple and obvious. You may not be aware that your metabolism slows down as you grow older. That is why it is easier to gain weight as we get older, even when we have not changed our eating habits. The easiest way to boost metabolism naturally is do more exercise and build up more muscle mass. If you are already exercising on a regular basis, try increasing the repetition or add more resistance or weight to the exercise you are doing. The more muscle mass you have, the higher your metabolism will be. Toning your muscles with weight training is important. Also, use every little chance that you can to exercise, such as parking your car far away from the store or office and take the stairs instead of the escalator or elevator. Be active on a daily basis!
2. Be sure to eat breakfast. Most people know that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, but many people tend to skip it because they are in a rush in the morning or for other reasons. You may not even feel very hungry when you wake up. Our metabolism slows down when we sleep. If you wait until lunch time before you eat anything, your body will slow your metabolism further because you have not eaten anything for 12 to 18 hours since the night before. This starvation reflex is the body's way of conserving energy when food is scarce, and is inappropriate since you likely have plenty of food. Eating breakfast in the morning gives your metabolism a kick start and makes sure the body is using the calories and not storing them.
3. Spicy foods. If you like spicy food, this tip is perfect for you. Studies show that spicy food, such as chili and peppers can help you to increase metabolism. Adding a little spiciness to your mid-day meal can still help rev up your metabolism.
4. Eat nutritious food and avoid foods that are high in sugar and fat. Soda and candy bars have a lot of sugar, which encourage your body to store fat. The reason for this is that carbohydrates cause your body to release insulin, a hormone, into the body. This hormone is the body's signal that food is plentiful, and any excess should be stored for future use. Stay away from sugary soda as much as you can. Drink water or tea as a substitute. Green tea is especially good because of additional health benefits. Nutritious food, such as vegetables, whole grains, fruits, and beans are good for your body and boost your energy without sending out the signal to store.
5. Get a sufficient amount of sleep. Research shows that people who do not get enough sleep are more likely to gain weight. They are less energetic, therefore less likely to exercise. They also tend to eat more, trying to offset being tired with foods that give a temporary boost in energy with sugar. Getting enough sleep is essential.
6. Drink at least 8 glasses of water a day. Water helps our system to clean out the toxins within our body. Water is also extremely important for many functions of our body. If our body is lacking water, our body systems will slow down to cope with the problem.
7. Eat small meals frequently and do not skip meals. People usually consume 2-3 big meals a day. If you want to boost your metabolism, experts suggest that consuming 4 to 6 smaller meals every 2 to 3 hours is better than consuming 2 to 3 big meals a day. Our metabolism speeds up right after we eat because our body is working to digest the food. Our body makes digestion a priority, which is one of the reasons we feel drowsy after a big meal. The other is related to our insulin level, which can get very high with a large meal. If we eat small meals more frequently we can maintain our metabolism at a higher level at all times. That is the same reason why we should not skip meals. Skipping meals will cause our metabolism to slow down.
8. Careful meal planning. Eating nutritious food is an essential part of being healthy. If you plan what you are going to eat at a regular interval ahead of time, you are less likely to skip meals or eat junk food sporadically. If you want some help with this, there are many meal planning services now that help families to plan their daily meals. Most of the successful weight-loss systems put a lot of focus on good meal planning.
9. Reduce stress. Stress is one of the most common problems in our busy society. Physical and emotional stress triggers our body to release a steroid called cortisol, which slow down our metabolism. In addition, some people who are stressed tend to eat excessively to relieve stress. Finding simple ways to reduce stress can not only help you maintain a healthy metabolism, but will make you feel better overall.
10. Drinking green tea. Besides having lots of antioxidants, green tea is also a metabolism booster. It also has caffeine, something to keep in mind before drinking green tea at night. Some people do not like the taste of green tea, saying it tastes like grass. If you agree, look for the type of green tea labeled "sencha" on the box, which does not have the grassy taste. Also, be careful of the green tea latte that you can purchase at many coffee shops nowadays, it has more calories and sugar than regular green tea.
If you can, incorporate as many Metabolism Boosters in your daily activities to help lose weight and maintain your ideal weight. Eating healthy, exercising regularly, and reducing stress should be a lifestyle instead of just a way to lose weight.

Fountain of Youth - HGH?
By Kate Savage
Hormone replacement therapy has risen in popularity over the years. There are some attractive benefits it offers especially to people beset by aging. Even professional athletes are getting interested. HGH- Human Growth Hormone is indeed very costly but is the most popular today. At 21, people have about 10mg/dl of HGH but at 61, there will only be 80% less (2mg/dl). Since growth hormones are for organs, muscles, bones, and cells' growth, the reduction brings on aging. The New England Journal of Medicine has published some studies regarding the aging reversal observation obtained from patients receiving HGH injections.
Life Center for Health conducted a human study for 10 weeks and the results were extraordinary. The reception of HGH has caused significant increase in Lean Muscle Mass, HDL, DHEA, Testosterone, and IGF-1. Cholesterol, Triglycerides, body fat, and LDL levels were greatly reduced. A few test subjects' hair color got restored along with hair growth. Weight loss was evident and test subjects as old as 86 got improved sexual drive. Cardiovascular health, liver health, and widespread body health regeneration was observed. HGH is shown to protect cells and act directly on proteases thus activating the cellular defense mechanism. HGH is highly better compared to antioxidants!
Many professional athletes have come to look at HGH as something very helpful. Taking HGH would mean healing faster from injuries. It cannot be detected in a urine test however. Even with a blood test, HGH is very hard to detect. This is the reason why doctors give competitive athletes that have injuries, prescriptions of Human Growth Hormone. A pro athlete taking HGH is highly comparable to one taking anabolic steroids. The effects seen are very similar. Indeed, HGH is providing many people today an option to keep the aging process at bay. Not only is it popular, but also life changing.
Kate Savage operates hgh website, which helps people taking informed decisions about buying hgh.

Choosing the Right Exercise for You
By Ricky Hussey
Finding the right exercise for you isn't all that difficult when you simply stop to think about what you enjoy doing. It will also depend on whether or not you want to join a health club or gym and pay a monthly membership fee. Or if you want to go out and buy exercise equipment for your home.
Not choosing an exercise program that you really want to do will only lead to you quitting in a short amount of time. This is why this area is the most critical. Once you determine what you enjoy, getting started will be easy. Give it some thought.
Do you like jogging? If not, then don't even consider it. But, do you enjoy going on long walks? Then turn this enjoyment into an exercise routine that will give you the ability to lose some weight and improve your health.
Walking is great exercise, and it doesn't even cost money to do. All it takes is a good pair of walking shoes. It's an activity for anyone of any level of fitness. It allows you to gradually build up strength and endurance over time. Walking is also a great social exercise. Find a partner to talk with while you exercise and you'll both enjoy yourselves even more. It also makes time fly.
Regardless of the exercise you choose, be sure to start out at a low level of intensity. You can build it up as you continue over the next several weeks. There is no need to overdo it. You'll only decide to quit when you can no longer maintain the pace you set for yourself. In addition, if you start off too hard, you could end up with an injury.
A great way to get started is begin walking for 15 minutes a day. After a week, go another 5-10 minutes, and then continue raising it by 5 minutes every two weeks. Another key to making your routine more interesting is to walk a different route off and on. Another idea is to have a few different friends you can walk with to change things around.
Other than walking you may want to join a health club, or your local YMCA. There you can access to a trainer who can set you up on a personal fitness program and help answer questions you might have. Check around and talk to a few different clubs before joining. Be sure the equipment is in good condition and that the place is clean. Is the staff friendly and helpful? If not, move on to a different facility.
Strength training
The best option to start may be to hire a certified personal trainer for three or four sessions to develop a plan for you and show you how to properly use the equipment. You can use weight machines, free weights, or resistance equipment like specially made rubber bands, and you can strength train at a health club or at home.
Strength training videos that show you how to use common household items such as food cans and water bottles can help save expenditures on weights or other fancy equipment.
Some other ideas for exercise include golf or tennis. These are not only fun activities, but they provide wonderful exercise for people of all ages. They also allow you to meet new friends.
So, make a decision to get out and start exercising today. Your body will be happy you did.

Reduce Stress Through Exercise
By Lee E. Balcom
Stress built up from frustrating or dangerous situations can cause serious problems to your health. There are a great number of stress relievers to include meditation, hypnosis, deep breathing, eating more properly, laughing, playing games, listening to soothing music, reducing caffeine & alcohol, eliminating nicotine, and performing moderate exercise. The list goes on but it would take a large book to list all of the stress reducers and how best to implement them.
If you picked exercise as a choice for your personal stress reducer, here are some tips on how to do it effectively.
First of all, pick an exercise that is moderate and that you would enjoy doing on a daily basis. If the exercise is too intense or too long in duration, chances are that you'll give up on it and your stress problem will not be resolved. Your goal should be an exercise that will stimulate your body to create a level of calmness and happiness in a relatively short period of time - meaning a few weeks or a couple of months at the most.
To be on the safe side, confide with your doctor on your planned exercise program to insure that it will be helpful to you based on your physical condition, and any health problems that you have.
Once cleared by your physician, you should begin your program in a calm, collective way for 15-30 minutes per day. If you can do the exercise in your home or office, that would be much more convenient, more time saving (eliminates travel to and from the exercise location), and probably a lot easier on your wallet or purse.
The main thing to do with your chosen exercise is to be consistent in its use, moderate in nature, and fun to do. When you start seeing results, don't stop your exercise regimen - make it a daily habit for life!
Whatever choice you make, I wish you the very best.

It's a healthy, fit woman who wins the race and makes it to the top. After all, she has to beat the men. So, women need to be on high energy 24x7. Ask yourself, do you have enough oomph to get you through the day. Today's alpha woman needs to be a powerhouse of energy. The real enemies of energy are anxiety, stress and hopelessness. So, what is the secret of living longer and healthier as women's lives go through lifestyle changes?
Health is wealth but this old age proverb does not fit in the lifestyle of a modern woman. Therefore women succumb to increasing demands of high pressure life by neglecting themselves. They are so busy in balancing everyday jobs that they have no time left for proper exercise and rest. Such women are becoming more prone to lifestyle diseases such as hyper-sensitiveness, stress, blood pressure.
Make Lifestyle Changes
Women believe living a healthy lifestyle is important and worthwhile. The survey provided women with a list of descriptive terms for living a healthy lifestyle and the majority of words chosen were positive rather than negative. Living a healthy lifestyle as important(61%), worthwhile(59%), essential(44%) and even fun(23%). Very few women identified a healthy lifestyle as difficult(11%) or boring(2%). The stress and anxiety that busy career women lives with can be mellowed by spending a quite night with the hubby. Women with anxiety are suffering from 'hurried woman syndrome'. So one should not forget to find that 'half an hour' everyday to unwind.
Fitness and health patterns first change in the mind. When you are living a stressful life, you need to balance it. Women are motivated to lead a healthy lifestyle that makes them feel good, be independent and look great. It is very important for them to maintain a certain time management schedule, which will help them to manage their life.
Lifestyle changes are a must. Proper sleep is important as our body is not designed to function 24X7. Making small changes in your daily routine can be beneficial. However, women also believe they need to make changes in their lifestyle to improve their health. Look around you, more and more women have bad backs and necks. Backache is a consequence of heavy physical work or due to standing or sitting in one position for too long. Carrying too much weight also puts strain on your back. The pain can also be stress-related.
Be A Fitness Freak!
One challenge for most working women is that they are too busy to eat healthy. But women are currently engaged in healthy behaviours. Even 30 minutes of walking can have a positive impact on your health. Today women have extremely busy schedules, women are ringmasters in a never-ending family circus. In fact, one small changes to your everyday routine can make for a much happier, healthier you. It is often seen women are focused taking care of others. Four Major Tips on How to Eat and Live Healthier
By Jason Hunter
Maintaining a healthy weight and enjoying a long vibrant life all depends on how well you balance the foods you eat on a daily basis. Have you ever heard of the term "you are what you eat?" If yes, then you must know that junk in equals junk out when it comes to diet. A healthy breakfast could mean the difference between having energy throughout the day or crash and burning before lunch. The body needs certain vitamins and minerals to perform at optimal efficiency throughout the day. When you deprive the body of these nutrients, it can be dangerous.
Below are the four major tips that you can follow to assure a healthy eating lifestyle.
1. Skipping meals is a big no!
Three meals a day is the best way to go about eating right and maintains a healthy body and weight. Skipping meals lead to what I call "grazing", this is when you go around eating any and everything within reach. Many people skip breakfast, but by lunch they have already raided the snack machine for two bags of chips, a candy bar, and a soda pop. If they had eaten a good breakfast, those empty calories would not have entered their bodies. When we are hungry, we are more likely to eat the wrong foods. Eating three meals a day preferably at the same time everyday is a big step to having a healthy eating lifestyle.
When taking long trips or going on vacation, you should take your meals with you, or purchase meals from health food stores in the area you are staying. I know it can be hard, especially with a fast food restaurant on every corner, but this is what you have to do in order to stay in tiptop shape. If it were easy, everyone would be slim and trim.
2. Learning to prepare foods is another great step in the right direction.
When it comes to cooking, many things can be done to ensure you are preparing the foods in a healthy way. Instead of frying, you should be boiling, grilling, or baking. In addition, you should try using fresh and dried herbs for seasoning instead of salt and other high sodium seasons. Finally yet importantly skin and fat should be taken off all meats before you prepare them.
3. Sugar is your enemy; it is not your friend!
Avoiding sugar is sometimes not that easy, but if you put your mind to it, you can do it. Soft drinks and juices contain nothing but sugar, and should be avoided due to their abundance of empty calories. Empty calories are calories that contain no nutritional value and are easily stored as fat. Sodas and juices should not be a substitute for water. Water is the only liquid you should drink on a regular basis. The others can be used as a treat, or once a day, but do not overdo it.
4. Avoid diet fads like the plague.
Diets of any kind should always be avoided. Fats and carbs have their places in a healthy diet. Moderation is the key, not fad diets. Limiting your carbs and increasing fats and vice versa could be dangerous. Another thing to look out for are pre-packaged diet foods, although they may be low in fat or carbs most of them are high in sodium. Therefore, eating different foods with fats and carbs using moderation and not overdoing it -- is just as good as or even better than fad diets.
The majority of people who get on these diets gain the weight back within a year. Not only do they gain back the weight they lost, but also they gain even more. Eating healthy and exercise is all you need for a healthy lifestyle. Following these four tips will have you on the right path in no time.

Happiness at Work - Prevent Contagious Illnesses and Costly Errors Related to Sickness
By Doris Helge, Ph.D.
If you're contagious, how will it serve anyone for you to share your illness? Can you stay at home today and span the gap with the Internet or a cell phone?
If you feel compelled to drag yourself to the office when you're feverish and sniffling, take responsibility for what you bring with you. Tell people you aren't choosing to shake hands because you care about their health. Stay at your own desk when you can, use your own pen or pencil, and distance yourself from others during meetings. Wash your hands often so you don't subject others to second-hand germs when you touch doorknobs, elevator buttons, and community phones and computers.
Think long term. Your performance is compromised when you're ill. It usually takes longer to clean up mistakes than to do a job well the first time. Illness usually fades over time, but mistakes can leave a lasting impression.
Whenever possible, avoid going back to work until you've had a good night's rest because it's much harder for your body to fight a virus when you're exhausted.
GERMS THAT GO AROUND, COME AROUND
Prevention is always the best cure for illness. We have total control over how often we wash our hands with soap. Lather the soap and scrub under your nails and between your fingers for 15 seconds before rinsing with water.
Use your own pen or pencil so viruses aren't transmitted to your fingers and then to your face, eyes, or nose. Clean your work area with the intention to eliminate germs. Since a rhinovirus can survive up to three hours, the National Institutes of Health advises cleaning desk surfaces with a disinfectant regularly. Is it a hassle? Not if it means avoiding days sick in bed.
There are many non-toxic cleaning chemicals available now that will keep Mother Earth happy. If you don't have a health food store near you that carries non-toxic cleaning supplies, you can search the Internet for "green cleaning products."
PREVENTION, PREVENTION, PREVENTION
Exercise boosts your immune system. Even short stints of exercise will enhance immunity because exercise stimulates antibodies that probe the cells of your body to discover and zap nasty germs. Even a few minutes of exercise will help you gain new energy for the rest of the day.
Don't postpone exercise just because you can't find 45 minutes a day for an ideal exercise session. You can spike healthy human growth hormone with as little as 30 seconds of high-intensity exercise. You'll also create a boost in your metabolism that will last several hours.
Many studies have touted the benefits of drinking green tea to boost your immune system. Scientists have also confirmed the value of homemade chicken soup to reduce inflammation and inhibit mucus production.
If you're a smoker, ask yourself why. If you don't smoke, limit your exposure to secondhand smoke.
Remind yourself that you do have time for breakfast. Why? Studies have consistently indicated that people who eat a good breakfast are healthier, more energetic, and happier at work.
Love your body. It's where you live, no matter how far you roam.
A decade of research (the "Happiness at Work Factor Studies") included interviews with over 650 employees, managers, and entrepreneurs. It became clear that people who are happy at work care about their own well-being . . . and the health of their coworkers and customers. No-cost solutions were identified to the major problems that block joy on the job. Struggling to work when ill was one "joy block" covered in "Joy on the Job" research studies and books.
Enjoy more happiness at work for yourself and those around you by using the proven ideas in this article.

Physical Problems - Treatments for Physical Problems
By Peter Sams
Hernia
A hernia is when an internal part of the body e.g. organ, pushes through a weakness in the muscle or surrounding tissue wall. Usually, your muscles are strong and tight enough to keep your intestines and organs in place; but sometimes they aren't, causing a hernia. The common type of hernias in the groin (inguinal),belly button (umbilical)and the site of a previous operation (incision). There are many more types but are rare.
Treatment
Hernias can be controlled by wearing a truss - a padded belt that acts as a support. Surgery is the only other option.
Prostatis
Prostatitis is an rubor of the prostate secretor usually made by a migratory bacterial infection originating from another component of the general anatomy. When this rubor develops all of a sudden, it is named acute prostasis; when it constructs up over clip, it is named chronic prostatitis. Having prostatitis is very unpleasant and a adult male who has it dwells a very unnatural and uncomfortable life - but having it is not the end of the existence; there are cures to it. While traditional cures are present and varied, there is another school of idea that believes natural cures for prostatitis are even more effective.
Treatment
Diet and Nutrition Cernilton (pollen extract marketed under the name of Prostabrit) has an anti-inflammatory effect on prostatic tissue.
Prostate Enlargement
Enlargement of the prostate gland is common in men over 50, although young men can also suffer. As the prostate enlarges, it puts pressure on the bladder and the urethra. This causes symptoms such as passing urine more frequently than usual, having to get up often during the night, weak, dribbling urine stream, and difficulty or delay in passing water.
Treatment
Diet and Nutrition A trained nutritionist might recommend zinc, antiglan, protat, and cerniltlill (Prostabrit). Drink plenty of fluids; cut out coffee. tea. and alcohol.
Herbal Medicine Use saw palmetto, fygeum, horsetail, and couch grass. The first two taken together are particularly effective.
Consult a qualified practitioner/therapist for:
Acupuncture Particular attention is paid to pressure points on the Bladder, Large Intestine, Spleen, and Kidney meridians.
Infertility
The usual reason for infertility is a low sperm count, or a complete absence of sperm, resulting in failure of your partner to become pregnant after six months.
Treatment
Excessive heat can reduce sperm production. Wear loose boxer shorts rather than close-fitting under, wear; avoid saunas and long soaks in hot baths. Splashing the testicles with cold water regularly each morning can raise the sperm count significantly.
Diet and Nutrition
High-potency multivitamins and minerals might be recommended; vitamin E can improve potency and fertility; zinc may assist growth and development of the sexual organs.
Sunburn
Sun protection is the best way to avoid sunburn, even on overcast days. Get smart about sunburns.
Treatment
Try taking a cool shower. NOT COLD. Taking a cold shower or bath can cause the body to go into shock. If you wish to take a bath, you can add vinegar to your water. The vinegar will take out the sting from the sunburn. You can also cook oatmeal and add it to your bath as well.
Potatoes can be used to relieve the pain from the sunburn. Take 2 potatoes and wash them well. Cut them into tiny chunks and place them into a blender. Liquefy the potatoes. If they are looking dry, add a little bit of water. Pat the areas with the potato juice. Wait until dry and then take a cool shower.
